We believe in AI safety and best practices for responsible use. We build with both frontier models and open-source technologies, with an emphasis on Anthropic's Claude tools — and we share what works so every Kansas City company can move faster, safely.

Our technology stance

Claude first — but never Claude only.

Anthropic's safety-first approach makes Claude our primary LLM. But our members ship on the right tool for the job — frontier and open-source alike. The map shows where we focus.

Common questions

Straight answers about KCAIA.

What does KCAIA actually do?

We help Kansas City businesses put AI to work — through consultation, custom development, Claude training, and a community of local builders. Think of us as your AI team if you don’t have one, and your AI peer group if you do.

Do we need to be technical?

No. About half our members are non-technical founders and operators. We meet you where you are.

What’s the difference between membership and hiring you for a project?

Membership gets you into the community — events, resources, discounts. Project work is separate: you hire us for a specific engagement (consultation, development, training). Members get up to 20% off.

We already use ChatGPT / Copilot / another tool. Is Claude different?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We’re Claude-first because we believe it’s the best tool for serious development work — but we’re not dogmatic. We’ll tell you honestly which tool fits your use case.

Is this only for Kansas City companies?

Our community and events are KC-focused, but we work with clients remotely. If you’re outside KC and interested in training or development, reach out.
